Liu Yang is a Chinese astronaut who was born on March 25, 1980, in Beijing. She graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in aerospace engineering and later obtained her master's degree in space science and technology from the same university.
In 2003, Liu Yang became one of the first four women to enter the country's manned space program. She spent two months training as part of China's Shenzhou V mission, which launched into orbit on June 16, 2005. The mission lasted for five days and included three crew members: Liu Yang, Zhai Zhigang, and Jing Haipeng.
Despite being the youngest member of the crew,Football Match Sharing Liu Yang proved herself to be a capable and skilled astronaut. During the mission, she performed several tasks including conducting experiments, taking photos of Earth, and even performing yoga poses in weightlessness. Her bravery and dedication were recognized by the International Astronautical Federation, which awarded her its Gold Medal for Distinguished Service to Space Exploration in 2007.
Since then, Liu Yang has continued to make history as one of China's most successful astronauts. In 2018, she became the first woman to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) on a solo mission. This achievement marked a significant milestone in China's space exploration efforts and demonstrated the country's ability to send people into space without relying on other nations' facilities.
Today, Liu Yang serves as deputy chief designer of the China National Space Administration's (CNSA) manned spacecraft program. She continues to inspire young girls and boys across China to pursue their dreams of becoming astronauts and contributing to the country's space exploration efforts.
